KYB
Know Your Business: verifying that a company counterparty is real, identifiable, and not sanctioned before doing business with it.
KYB is the business-facing counterpart to identity checks on individuals. It typically covers confirming the entity exists in an official register, identifying who controls it, and screening the entity and its principals against sanctions lists.
For regulated businesses it is a legal requirement. For everyone else it is basic diligence: it is the step that catches a vendor that does not exist or a partner already designated.
