Sanctions Screening API

OFAC and Global Sanctions Screening API

Screen a person or company name against 12 self-hosted government lists — OFAC, four BIS lists, DDTC, ISN, EU, UK, UN, Australia DFAT and Switzerland SESAM. Every match carries a 0–100 score, the list that produced it, and a signed receipt. This is not full KYC: PEP is Wikidata heads of state, ministers, judges, central bankers and ambassadors, not legislators; there is no adverse media; beneficial ownership is UK-only.

Named lists, not a black-box score

What we screen, when it refreshed, and what we refuse to claim

Twelve lists, one count

OFAC (SDN and non-SDN programmes), BIS Entity / Denied Persons / Unverified / Military End User, DDTC ITAR debarred, ISN nonproliferation, EU FSF, UK OFSI, UN, Australia DFAT, Switzerland SESAM. The live record count and refresh time are on /coverage.

Score, source, timestamp

Each match names the list, a 0–100 similarity score, and the receipt carries issuedAt. You set the escalation threshold; we do not hide the raw hit behind a pass/fail.

Guest try-it

The free tool at /tools/ofac-sanctions-screening calls the same endpoint. A stranger can see a JSON result without a key.

Not full KYC

PEP coverage is Wikidata heads of state and government, ministers, judges, central bankers and ambassadors — not national legislators. There is no adverse-media engine. Beneficial ownership is the UK PSC register only.

A match is not a determination

Same-name collisions are real. Optional date of birth and nationality re-score matches; a row that records neither is never demoted for failing to agree.
