Tranco rank
A research-grade popularity ranking of domains, built to resist the day-to-day manipulation that affects raw traffic lists.
Tranco combines several underlying popularity lists over a time window, which smooths out the churn and gaming that make any single daily list unreliable. It is produced for academic use, and it is free to use.
A rank inside the top million says a domain is genuinely visited by a lot of people. That is a strong argument against it being throwaway phishing infrastructure, though not against it being compromised.
We hold the full one-million-domain list locally and refresh it daily, so rank checks cost nothing per query and cannot be rate limited by a third party.
