Hunter.io alternatives

If you are weighing up a move off Hunter.io, here are the options that actually exist, what to check before you commit, and the cases where staying put is the right call.

Why people look

Common reasons to shop around

  • You need to verify addresses you already have rather than discover new ones, and you are paying for a discovery product to do it.
  • Your compliance position changed and you would rather not build lists from scraped contact data.
  • You want verification inside a fraud or signup flow, where latency and API shape matter more than a browser extension.

Verification-first: we check addresses you supply, and do not sell scraped contact discovery at all.

Hunter.io

Still the better fit if discovery is the actual job. Finding an unknown address and verifying a known one are different products.

Apollo or ZoomInfo

If you want discovery at scale with firmographic data attached, these are built for it. Their data model is contact-database first.

Before you switch

Three things worth checking

Discovery or verification

Be clear which one you are buying. Paying discovery prices to verify a known list is the most common overspend in this category.

Lawful basis for the data

Contact discovery products carry data-protection obligations that verification of your own records does not.

Latency in the request path

A tool built for research batches is not necessarily built to sit inside a signup form.

Moving across

What the switch actually involves

  1. 01

Check what you actually use them for

If it is Domain Search — give me every address at this company — we do not replace that and this page should not pretend otherwise. If it is Email Verifier, the swap is direct.

  2. 02

    The endpoint

POST /api/verify-email for verification. For finding one work address from a name and a company domain, POST /api/email-enrichment, which returns the address with a confidence and whether the mailbox itself answered.

  3. 03

    The field that changes name

Their verification `result` becomes our `status`; their `score` has no direct equivalent because we report the signals rather than a single number.

  4. 04

    Credits work differently

Theirs charge half a credit for a verification and a whole one for a find.

Ours charge one credit for a verification and three for an enrichment, from the same balance that also pays for phone, IP and domain.

  5. 05

    Run both for a week

Feed the same names and domains to both and compare the addresses that differ, not the ones that match.

When to buy something else

We do not find email addresses. If you need to discover contacts at a company you have no relationship with, we are the wrong tool and will stay that way.
